Fentanyl Awareness Social Media Contest
The opioid crisis has reached epidemic proportions in the United States and around the world, with fentanyl being one of the most dangerous drugs in circulation. Fentanyl is the leading cause of death in ages 18-45.

The main objective of this campaign is to increase public awareness, especially in schools as the drug dealers are targeting a much younger population. We want to educate the students, educators, and parents on the dangers of fentanyl, and how to prevent its use and abuse.

#FentanylKills
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 50-100 times more potent than morphine and can be lethal even in miniscule doses (2 milligrams).

Due to fentanyl’s strength, people with low tolerance (e.g.: recreational and experimental drug users) may be at risk for fatal overdoses AKA poisoning. Small amounts, less than a pinch, of fentanyl can be enough to result in an overdose.
According to the CDC, 107,375 people in the United States died of drug overdoses and drug poisonings in the 12-month period ending in January 2022. A staggering 67 percent of those deaths involved synthetic opioids like fentanyl. Some of these deaths were attributed to fentanyl mixed with other illicit drugs like cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin, with many users unaware they were actually taking fentanyl. Only two milligrams of fentanyl is considered a potentially lethal dose; it’s particularly dangerous for someone who does not have a tolerance to opioids.
